Definitely Maybe the best

Oasis Top All-Time Poll

Oasis have beaten off stiff competition to grab pole position in the latest Greatest Albums Of All Time poll.

'Definitely Maybe' and '(What's The Story) Morning Glory' have secured the top two positions in a new poll of the Greatest British Albums Of All Time.

The poll, compiled by retailer HMV and Q Magazine, saw Radiohead take third place with 'OK Computer' while The Beatles secured the fourth and sixth positions with 'Revolver' and 'Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band' respectively.

Also securing their places in the Top Ten were The Stones Roses with their eponymous debut at number five while The Clash's 'London Calling' sits in the seventh position slot.

The rock-dominated chart also sees appearances from Pink Floyd, The Smiths and Queen.

Rudy Osorio, the head of music for HMV stores, said: "Most album polls of recent years have tended to see the likes of The Beatles, Radiohead and Stone Roses vie for the top five spots.

"However, as our perspective changes, it looks like many more of us are starting to recognise the iconic appeal of Oasis and the brilliance of 'Definitely Maybe' as an era-defining album."
